WILLIE BRYAN
FIRST APPEARANCE: April 1957
LAST APPEARANCE: 1960
PERFORMER: Edward Holmes
Wilhelmus Bogart Bryan III, affectionately known as just "Willie" assisted Mike Karr in many criminal investigations as a private investigator. He first appeared in April 1957, sent to Nevada to track down background information on Louise Grimsely's past during Cora Lane's murder trial. Over the next three years, Willie acted as a confidante, trusted friend, and comedic foil for Mike. He also developed a warm friendship with the Lane and Grimsley families, becoming especially protective of Sara and Laurie Ann. The character of Willie was phased out in 1960 when, in real life, actor Ed Holmes' young son was diagnosed with cancer. Holmes moved his family to Texas for medical treatments. He later worked in public relations and continued to act in local productions.
