JANUARY 2 - 6, 1978:
Miles and Denise argued when she accused him of having one of her father's friends donate money to Roper's Clinic instead of The Clairmont. Miles resigned
from the Clairmont. April was hospitalized with another heart spell. Logan dated his secretary Maggie to spite Raven. Mike assigned Draper to handle the
case of Sarah Peterson, a young forger. Mike worried that Saxon would use Kevin to Saxon's advantage on the crime commission. A serial killer sought
red-headed victims on Block Street.
JANUARY 9 - 13, 1978:
Tony and Geraldine were married. The case was closed on the Richardson and Drake murders when Ray Harper was indicted for the crimes. April finally
agreed to heart surgery and Draper's marriage proposal. Logan realized that Raven doesn't care for anyone except Draper. Steve and Mike learned that
Saxon has a fake bank account in the name of James Armstead. Miles accepted a job at Roper's Clinic. Deborah went undercover when the Block Street
killer struck again.
JANUARY 23 - 27, 1978:
Steve noticed a picture of a red-headed woman in fellow cop Vinny Ryerson's locker and realized that he's the Block Street killer. Deborah left a Block
Street bar with Ryerson, who planned to strangle her. Denise vowed that Miles and Nicole will never be together. Raven was jealous that Logan is dating
Maggie. April's open-heart surgery was scheduled. Steve arrived on Block Steet just in time to save Deborah's life.
JANUARY 30 - FEBRUARY 3, 1978:
April's surgery will occur sooner than expected. Logan warned Draper that Raven is getting chummy with April in order to keep tabs on Draper. Nancy was
offered a job as a news anchor for WMON-TV. Saxon was suspected of pulling the strings behind the crime commission.
FEBRUARY 6 - 10 , 1978:
Before the operation, Denise threatened April, vowing to kill her if she ever mentions Denise's possible involvement in Katrhyn Dane's death. Under
anesthesia, April mumbled Dane's name. Raven fumed when Kevin insisted on publishing anti-crime commission statements, which might ruin his
political career. Raney anonymously tipped off Steve about Saxon's secret bank accounts. Deborah ordered Steve to stop badgering her father.
FEBRUARY 13 - 17, 1978:
April's operation was a success. She told Draper that she wasn't dreaming about Kathryn Dane's death or Denise's involvement in the crime. Deborah
broke up with Steve, who dated Maggie. Raney professed his love to Deborah and hired a thug named Chip Beemer. Raven convinced Kevin to cancel
his crime commission report. Nancy turned down the tv news offer, but recommended Nicole for the position. Miles fell into Nicole's arms.
FEBRUARY 20 - 24, 1978:
Denise spotted Miles kissing Nicole after she got the job at WMON. Draper assured April that he didn't propose to her out of pity. April and Draper set
an April wedding date. Charlie refused to be bought off by Denise. Denise vowed to keep Charlie quiet at all costs.
FEBRUARY 27 - MARCH 3, 1978:
April was suspicious of Denise when Charlie died suddenly of a drug overdose. Denise informed Nicole that Miles has a mistress named Winter
Austen. Ben Everett, Nicole's boss at WMON, is interested in more than her news reading abilities. Jackson, one of Saxon's cronies, either fell or was
pushed from a window after Chip and Raney threatened him.
MARCH 6 - 10, 1978:
Winter denied being Miles' mistress. Miles convinced Nicole that he loves only her, then he asked Denise for a divorce. Kevin brooded about his
impotency. April was released from the hospital. Ben asked Nicole for a date.
\MARCH 13 - 17, 1978:
Deborah was accepted by the police academy despite Saxon's objections. It was revealed that Chip and Winter have a past association. Winter has
a police record a mile long and is apparently a hooker. Denise vowed that she'd never grant Miles a divorce. Fearful that Denise will harm Nicole,
April warned Denise that she'd expose Denise's involvement in the deaths of Charlie Richmond and Kathryn Dane if anything happens to Nicole.
MARCH 20 - 24, 1978:
Denise remembered giving Charlie a drug overdose, then she slipped a pill into Nicole's wine. Miles admitted that he feels responsible for Winter's
downfall, since his drunken father caused the deaths of Winter's mother and father. After learning that Serena Faraday died of pnuemonia in
Greenhaven sanitarium, Mike and Nancy began formal adoption proceedings for Timmy. Nancy became a crime reporter for father Joe's newspaper.
MARCH 27 - 31, 1978:
Chip knifed Logan outside Winter's apartment to scare him away from investigating Saxon's connections with the crime commission. Logan survived
the attack. Denise's poison plan for Nicole was foiled. Miles agreed to a three-month separation from Denise, at which time he'll file for a divorce.
Draper gave April an engagement ring.
APRIL 3 - 7, 1978:
Kevin blew the whistle on crime commission members and was fired. Denise stalked Nicole. Timmy saw Denise lurking in the shadows
outside Nicole's house and had visions that Denise was his dead mother Serena. April and Draper were married. Raven announced to an
astonished Geraldine that she's pregnant.
APRIL 10 - 14, 1978:
An infuriated Geraldine called Raven an alley cat and arranged a New York abortion, after informing Raven that Kevin is sterile and can't possibly
be the father of the baby. Denise hired a private investigator to take photos of Nicole and Ben together, which Denise then sent to Miles. Chip
punched Winter when she accepted a date with Logan. Kevin was asked to run for an empty congressional seat. Carol learned about Denise's
involvement in Charlie's death. Denise was hospitalized with a sudden illness.
APRIL 17 - 21, 1978:
Miles learned that Denise has been spying on Nicole. Denise concocted a fake terminal illness in order to keep Miles from divorcing her.
Geraldine made secret plans to fly Raven to New York for the abortion.
APRIL 24 - 28, 1978:
Logan followed Raven to New York after she tipped him off that she's pregnant with his child. Miles fell for Denise's fake record of a terminal
illness, which was supplied by her father Dr. Gus Norwood. Winter realized that Logan and Raven were an item, but that didn't stop her
from pursuing him. April suggested to a skeptical Miles that Denise is probably faking her illness to hold on to their marriage.
MAY 1 - 5, 1978:
Raven panicked and wanted to leave for Europe when her doctor informed her it's too late for an abortion. Geraldine insisted that Raven tell
Kevin the truth. Denise conned Miles into spending her "last days" with her. Miles resigned from Roper's Clinic, as did Nurse Teresa Worthington,
because David is marrying an old girlfriend. Raney was jealous that Deborah graduated the police academy and accepted a date to the policeman's
ball with Steve. Mike decided to return to the crime commission.
MAY 8 - 12, 1978:
Kevin learned by accident that Raven is pregnant, and realizing the implications, moved out. Denise framed Carol and had her fired after
disconnecting oxygen from a patient and blaming Carol. Miles hired Tree as Denise's nurse. Logan dated Winter. Raney suggested to Chip
that Saxon needs to get Mike Karr off his back.
MAY 15 - 19, 1978:
Raven ran to Logan when Kevin left her, but Logan rebuffed her. Raven fumed that Logan is dating Winter, and tried to reconcile with Kevin, who
refused to see her. Denise continued to plot against Miles and Nicole. April and Draper were stunned when April learned that she's pregnant.
Mike answered his front door to a man wearing a Halloween mask, who threw a chemical in Mike's face.
MAY 22 - 26, 1978:
Mike was blinded in the chemical attack, and doctors weren't hopeful his vision would return due to extensive corneal damage. Saxon wanted to
know if Raney was responsible for the attack on Mike, but Raney denied any knowledge of the incident. Raven begged Geraldine for help in
reuniting with Kevin, then taunted April with the lie that Draper fathered her baby. Steve and Deborah argued about her father's possible
involvement in Mike's attack.
MAY 29 - JUNE 2, 1978:
Raven and Kevin reconciled to save his political career. Tony Saxon was suspected of being behind Mike's blinding. Deborah insisted that
she'll prove her father's innocence and refused to work on the case with Steve. April had pregnancy problems but kept quiet regarding
Raven's story about Draper fathering her baby, too. Tree shared April's suspicions that Denise isn't really terminally ill. Miles decided to
run additional tests to verify the veracity of Dr. Norwood's diagnosis.
JUNE 5 - 9, 1978:
Raney proposed marriage to Deborah, who turned him down. Deborah and Tony realized that Chip was responsible for blinding
Mike. Winter learned about Raven's pregnancy. Deborah broke into Chip's apartment, searching for clues to Mike's attack, and Chip
caught her. Denise panicked when she learned that Miles is re-running her tests, but Gus reassured Denise that he'll make sure that
Miles gets the same results.
JUNE 12 - 16, 1978:
Chip realized that Deborah knew he was behind Mike's blinding and took her hostage. Raney followed Chip and Deborah to a parking garage,
where Raney and Chip engaged in a violent shootout that left Chip dead. Deborah told Saxon and the police that Raney saved her life. April
revealed her pregnancy to Miles and Denise. Tree confided to April that Denise is faking her illness. Later, after Miles confirmed that Denise
is dying, April overheard Gus and Denise laughing about how they managed to trick him.
JUNE 19 - 23, 1978:
April confronted Denise, and after threatening to expose all of Denise's lies, April tumbled down a flight of stairs during a struggle with Denise.
Miles and Tree saved April, who was clinically dead after falling down the stairs. Draper and April grieved over the baby April lost.. Nancy was
upset that Mike remained on the crime commission, despite being attacked and blinded. Deborah accepted Raney's diamond ring, but
warned him that it isn't a token of engagement. Ben told Nicole that he loves her. Denise plotted to smother April, but her plan was thwarted.
JUNE 26 - 30, 1978:
Miles overheard a conversation between Denise and Gus that exposed her lies, but the joke was on Denise when Gus admitted that he
never falsified the lab report, so Denise really is dying. No one believed Denise's new tale. Denise plotted to take Miles to the grave with
her rather than let Nicole have him. Mike began therapy to adjust to blindness after his bandages were removed. April learned that the
fall and miscarriage have left her unable to have children, and she blamed Denise. Nicole rebuffed Ben's advances, opting to wait for Miles.
JULY 3 - 7, 1978:
Gus caught Denise, who stole drugs from him and attempted to poison Miles. While arguing with Denise about her monstrous plans, Gus
collapsed. April recalled having an out-of-body experience after the fall and insisted that she's having clairvoyant visions of the future.
Tony was unhappy that Deborah accepted Raney's ring. Miles and Nicole were reunited. Draper feared that April is becoming unhinged.
Denise decided to kill herself and make it appear Miles murdered her so that he could have Nicole.
JULY 10 - 14, 1978:
As part of her plan to commit suicide and frame Miles, Denise led witnesses to believe that Miles is mortally threatening her. While
horseback riding in the woods, Steve and Deborah sought shelter in an abandoned barn during a storm and made love. Logan
romanced Winter and uncovered proof that Chip was responsible for the attacks on Jackson, Mike, and himself. Gus vowed to stop Denise's
murder plot, but he suffered a massive stroke before he could warn Miles.
JULY 17 - 21, 1978:
Denise discovered that Carol is Miles' new secretary and swore that she would make sure Miles fires her. April had a vision of Denise killing
Miles and drove to Mayfield, where a dying Denise pulled the phone out of the wall and awaited Miles' arrival. Draper confided to Miles that
April blames Denise for their baby's death, and Draper fears what April might do in her present mental state. April confronted Denise, who
begged April to give her an injection of painkillers. April rushed out for help, but crashed her car on the way. Miles and Draper arrived to find
Denise's dead body and a syringe at her side. Winter and Logan became engaged.
JULY 24 - 28, 1978:
April recovered from her car accident and swore that Denise was still alive when she left for help. Tony severed business ties with Raney.
As a trap to lure Mike, Raney anonymously filtered information to Mike about Tony's crime commission activities. April was incriminated in Denise's
death, even though April insisted that it was suicide. Raven tried to breakup Logan and Winter's engagement. Deborah found clues that linked
Tony to the Monticello Uniform Company and realized that he might be guilty.
JULY 31 - AUGUST 4, 1978:
Raven teased Winter that Raven was Logan's first choice as a wife. Tony secretly met with Raney, who agreed to kill Mike. Later, Raney
kidnapped Mike. Sheriff Hagen grilled April about her fingerprints being on the syringe used to kill Denise. Because of Deborah, Steve
relieved himself from the Saxon investigation. Bill tracked Mike, who has an electronic tracing device planted in his white cane.
AUGUST 7 - 11, 1978:
Raney realized that Mike had a tracer planted in his cane and threw it away. Bill lost track of Mike and Raney who arrived at a deserted
warehouse on the riverfront. Raney taunted Mike inside the warehouse, pushed him down a flight of stairs, and left him to die. Tony
paid off Raney for disposing of Mike. Raven accused Deborah of trying to steal her husband after Raven caught Deborah crying on Kevin's
shoulder. April continued to hear voices and have strange visions.
AUGUST 14 -18, 1978:
April had a vision about Mike, which led the police to the warehouse. Mike was hospitalized in satisfactory condition. Raney attempted
to extort more money from Saxon to keep quiet about Tony's shady business dealings. Sheriff Hagen arrested April for Denise's murder.
Carol was jealous of the warmth between Miles and Winter.
AUGUST 21 - 25, 1978:
Mike regained consciousness and named Raney as his assailant. Raney showed Deborah proof of Saxon's criminal activities, then he
forced her to go with him to a remote cabin in the woods. Realizing Raney has Deborah, Tony confessed his crimes to a startled Geraldine,
and later followed Raney and Deborah to the cabin. Raney shot and killed an innocent hiker who stumbled upon the cabin. After
Deborah tried to escape, Raney forced her to take an overdose of sleeping pills. April's upcoming trial was moved from Mayfield to
AUGUST 28 - SEPTEMBER 1, 1978:
Tony couldn't convince Raney to free Deborah as a hostage and drew on a gun on him. During an exchange of gunfire, Tony was
seriously wounded. As the police surrounded the cabin, Raney forced Deborah into a getaway car. Deborah managed to run down
Raney, who was killed in a shootout with the police. Before he died, Saxon told Geraldine that despite his many crimes and lies, he
always loved her. Logan and Mike speculated that district attorney Ira Paulsen will be in a quandry whether or not to push for April's
first-degree murder conviction, since Ira wants to run for elective office.
SEPTEMBER 4 - 8, 1978:
Winter put up a fight for Logan when Raven made another attempt to win him back. April admitted that Raven claimed her baby was
fathered by Draper, who denied it. The police commissioner asked Deborah to turn in her badge since she was Saxon's daughter.
April had a vision that Logan would prosecute her, but Logan insisted that he wouldn't.
SEPTEMBER 11 - 15, 1978:
Deborah refused to turn in her resignation and investigated a wife-beating case. Mr. Brennan, the husband, fell through a window to
his death during a confrontation with Deborah, who was suspended. Mrs. Brennan later stalked Deborah. April had nightmares about
Raven's accusations, then ran away. Winter pushed Logan for a quick wedding, and admitted that there's much he doesn't know about
her past. Raven learned that April is missing. Kevin warned Raven not to tell the police about April.
SEPTEMBER 18 - 22, 1978:
Kevin accidentally learned that Logan is the father of Raven's baby and considered committing suicide. Margo Huntington and her
manager Wade Meecham arrived in Monticello and bought WMON-TV. Margo fired Ben. Wade has a past association with Winter.
Steve and Calvin arrested Joanie Collier. Mrs. Brennan attempted to kill Deborah at Saxon's grave, but Deborah wrestled the gun
away from her. Later, Mrs. Brennan claimed police brutality.
SEPTEMBER 25 - 29, 1978:
Winter turned down Wade's invitation to resume their former involvement in the porno film industry. Steve proposed marriage to Deborah,
who once again refused. April was arrested in Chicago, and she had a vision of Draper's car plummeting over a cliff and a dead man's
body inside. Ira threatened to fire Logan if he refuses to prosecute April. Nicole was suspicious that Margo is interested in Miles. Kevin
told Raven that he wants a divorce.
OCTOBER 2 - 6, 1978:
Steve, Deborah, and Calvin discovered that Joanie has the same religious cult "Children of the Earth" tattoo as a recent drowning victim.
Joanie denied knowing the dead girl. April's psychic vision apparently came true when Ira resigned to run for the congressional seat that Kevin
abandoned, and Logan is now the prosecuting attorney for Monticello. Raven pleaded with Logan to marry her because Kevin wants a divorce
and Logan's child won't have a father. Bill welcomed Deborah back on the police force.
OCTOBER 9 - 13, 1978:
Miles realized that Denise probably injected herself with the lethal syringe in order to frame him, not April, for murder. April's trial began.
Mike suggested in court that Denise committed suicide. Tree testified that Denise had expected Miles, not April, the day of her death.
Wade harassed Winter about joining his new porno ring, or he'd sponsor a Winter Austen film festival for Logan. Raven told Logan she'd
spread ugly gossip about him if he doesn't lie to Kevin that he forced himself on her. Nicole grew jealous of Margo's possessive attitude
OCTOBER 16 - 20, 1978:
Elliot Dorn, leader of the Children of the Earth cult, arrived in Monticello and identified the dead girl as Joanne Jensen. Joanne's mother
refused to believe that she committed suicide. Elliot smooth-talked Deborah. Margo split from Wade's porno activities. Logan was
urged by community groups to rid their neighborhoods of pornography. During April's trial, Carol had an airtight alibi when it was suggested
that she had a motive to murder Denise.
OCTOBER 23 - 27, 1978:
Mike suggested that April change her plea to guilty by reason of sanity. April nixed Mike's suggestion, claiming that she didn't kill Denise.
Another Children of the Earth member was found drowned. Frankie Gemini, a stoolie of Steve's, was also found dead. Elliot insisted
that he could help Deborah with her personal problems. Margo sent Nicole on endless assignments, managing to get Miles all to herself.
OCTOBER 30 - NOVEMBER 3, 1978:
The jury found April guilty. Elliot ordered his henchman Cody Patrick not to hound Joanie. Wade sought Winter's help in getting the citizen's
committee off his back about his new porno theater. Logan saw a porn video of "Lacy Lady", starring his fiancee Winter. Mike underwent a
dangerous cornea transplant operation.
NOVEMBER 6 -11, 1978:
Logan accepted Winter's reasons for being a porn star, but his new job as district attorney is now threatened. Calvin tried to infiltrate the
Children of the Earth by dating Star Wilson, one of its members, but Star rejected Calvin. Another dead Earth Child was identified as
Caroline Ewing. Wade offered to help Margo win Miles away from Nicole. April was sentenced to 25 years in Warmdale Prison.
NOVEMBER 13 -17, 1978:
Deborah got fed up with the police department, turned in her badge, and joined the Children of the Earth. April was transported to Warmdale
Prison and had another vision of Draper's death in a car accident. Wade hired Tank Jarvis, one of his and Winter's former porno pals.
NOVEMBER 20 - 24, 1978:
Winter went to Wade's bed in order to save Logan's career, after Wade threatened to expose Winter's porno past to the public. Wade
secretly taped their sexual encounter. Cody warned Joanie that if she left the Children again, Elliot would deliver a "killing prayer" for her.
April's cellmates Daisy and Marie harassed her. Margo and Nicole drew fire over Miles. Calvin and Steve failed to halt Deborah's
initiation into the Children. A drunken Kevin had a violent argument with Raven, who threatened to leave him. April's visions of Draper's
car accident intensified.
NOVEMBER 27 - DECEMBER 1, 1978:
April was confined to solitary after causing disturbances over her premonitions of Draper's death. Raven turned her to attention to Draper.
Howard Selkirk asked Mike to help get his daughter Diana away from the Children. Wade secretly videotaped his exchange of "Lacy Lady" with
Logan, who promised to get Wade's porno theater location approved in return.
DECEMBER 4 - 8, 1978:
Draper rebuffed Raven who offered herself to Draper since April will be spending 25 years in prison. An angry Raven threatened to hop a plane
to England. Draper called Kevin who vowed to stop Raven from leaving the country. Later, Draper's car careened out of control and
plummeted off a cliff. The Karrs were stunned when the police informed Mike about Draper's death in the accident.. April went off the deep end
after hearing that Draper had been killed. Later, Draper arrived at Geraldine's hotel suite and broke the news that Kevin had borrowed his car to
stop Raven, and it was he who actually died in the crash. Raven played the devastated widow, enraging Geraldine. It was revealed that Deborah
is working undercover for Bill by investigating the Children. April's cellmates are convinced that she's a witch. Howard admitted to Mike that he's
dying and offered to will his corneas to him, if Mike agrees to save Diana from The Children of the Earth cult.
DECEMBER 11 -15, 1978:
Logan and Geraldine didn't fall for Raven's sympathy act. April was placed in the psycho ward after cellmates staged a mock witch trial.
Howard Selkirk died, and Mike underwent cornea transplant surgery. Star Wilson made her nightclub debut, but she continued to rebuff Calvin's
advances. Wade finally succeeded in breaking up Winter and Logan, then agreed to help Margo drive a wedge between Miles and Nicole.
DECEMBER 18 - 22, 1978:
In cahoots with Margo, Wade followed Nicole to a TV newscaster's convention in Chicago. Later, Wade drugged Nicole's drink and took
suggestive pictures of them together to make Miles jealous. Diana returned to the Children. Albert, a not-too-bright "giant" was introduced at
the Children headquarters. In therapy sessions with Dr. Whaley, the prison psychiatrist, April recalled her late mother's obsession with the
DECEMBER 25 - 29, 1978:
Raven went into premature labor and delivered a baby boy. Logan couldn't resist Raven's pleas for a father for their baby. Nancy's Christmas
present arrived when Mike's bandages were removed, and his eyesight returned. Behind Eliot's back, Cody secretly influenced Albert to commit
crimes to "he Children. Miles realized what might have really happened the day Denise died and planned to exonerate April with Draper's
