rThe son of publisher Mark Faraday and his ex-wife Serena, Timmy became the constant pawn in games played by the adults around him. When he first appeared, he was being snatched from a boys boarding school by his father. Mark and Serena had been divorced after an unhappy, ten-year marriage that Mark claimed ended because of Serena's odd behavior, persistent blackouts and unexplained disappearances, which he attributed to affairs. Serena, who was a distant relative of Adam's late wife Nicole Travis, implored Adam to help her get Timmy back from his father, as she had legal custody of the child. Adam convinced Mark; however, once Timmy was back in Serena's custody, Adam found him cowering in a closet, terrified by a mysterious "dark-haired lady" who constantly appeared in their home. Timmy returned to the boarding school, but was soon sent back due to a debilitating emotional detachment over the situation of his parents. In Serena's Monticello apartment, Timmy once again was frightened by the truculent dark haired lady who claimed to be his "Aunt Josie." In time, it was revealed that Josie and Serena were and the same. Serena was suffering from a psychiatric disorder that resulted in her becoming an alternate personality. When Mark discovered this, he instigated a custody suit to permanently remove Timmy from his mother's care. In the interim, she sent Timmy to stay in the home of her attorney Mike Karr.
During the custody trial, in December 1975, Serena reverted to her Josie personality and assassinated Mark on the courthouse steps. The following spring Serena was tried for Mark's murder, but Adam proved in court that Josie had committed the crime due to years of abuse that Serena had suffered at the ends of a sadistic father. With Serena now suppressed, Josie pretended to be her one last time in order to say goodbye to Timmy before she was committed to Greenhaven Sanitarium. Mike and Nancy immediately instigated a legal adoption of Timmy, but another custody battle quickly emerged with the arrival of Josephine Harper, Serena's sister. As she was a blood relative, Josephine received custody of Timmy and left Monticello with him.
In the fall of 1976, the Karr marriage became strained to the breaking point when Nancy appeared to become involved with Beau Richardson, a shady character who ran The Ace of Clubs, owned by Anthony Saxon. Saxon and Richardson were both on the Monticello P.D.'s radar with suspicions of being involved in the criminal syndicate which still held the city in its grip. Unknown to anyone, including husband Mike, Nancy had received audio cassette tapes from Saxon and Richardson which contained Timmy's voice begging Nancy to do as they asked or he would be killed. Meanwhile, Nancy's daughter Laurie flew to San Francisco, where the Harpers now lived, and attempted to see Timmy, but Josephine claimed that he was away with her husband Ray and refused to reveal their location.
Following Beau Richardson's murder in April 1977, and Mike's arrest for the crime, Nancy finally confessed that she had been blackmailed. She went to see Josephine Harper, who now afraid of being implicated in the crime, decided to give Timmy back to the Karrs in exchange for Nancy's silence. Timmy returned to Monticello and began to rebuild his friendship with Adam Drake, whom he had always viewed as a father figure. Adam's shocking murder devastated him, but he hoped to build a new friendship with Adam's widow Nicole. The following spring, Timmy's mother Serena died suddenly from pneumonia while still confined to Greenhaven sanitarium. One night soon after, while babysitting for Adam Junior at Nicole's cottage, Timmy saw the frightening form of a woman standing outside in the shadows watching him. He began to have terrifying nightmares about Serena, unaware that the figure had been Denise Cavanaugh, Nicole's rival in affection for Dr. Miles Cavanaugh.
After Mike was suddenly blinded in a vicious attack that May, he and Nancy decided to send Timmy away to summer camp in order to spare him further emotional turmoil. Due to the departure of actor Doug McKeon for a film career, Timmy never returned from summer camp. The character was last referenced onscreen in August 1978 when Nancy told Nicole that Timmy would soon come home from camp, though he was never seen again.
