Arriving in Monticello as Schuyler Whitney, wealthy impresario of the arts, it was later revealed that Jefferson Brown was a former state department employee who had assumed the real Sky Whitney's identity after they were involved in a plane crash over the Swiss Alps. With the real Sky apparently dead in a mountain crevasse, Jeff had his face surgically altered at Dr. Kenneth Bryson's private, Lucerne clinic, then moved to Monticello pretending to be Schuyler Whitney. After new wife Raven discovered a secret photograph of the real Sky and Jeff Brown, and noting that her husband's scar was actually on Jeff, he decided to kill her. He hired hit man Romeo Slade to perform the task, but at the last minute, he couldn't go through and saved Raven's life by shooting Slade dead. Unfortunately, the family chauffeur, menacing Gunther Wagner, realized that Sky had set-up a hit and began blackmailing him. Jeff solved the problem by killing Gunther and framing Gavin Wylie for the crime. His killing spree continued with Bobbie Gerard, who, in love with Gavin, was desperately trying to prove his innocence and came too close to the truth. When Raven once again became suspicious of her husband's actions, Jeff decided to kill her once and for all while vacationing in St. Moritz. He planned to push her off an observation deck, from an alpine gondola, and finally from a snowy cliff after arranging a skiing accident. As he prepared to toss an injured Raven off the cliff, Jeff was himself killed by Libby Webster, a young woman who was helping the real Sky (who hadn't died) reclaim his life and fortune.
